Finnjävel covers the Finnish soulscape of forests, lakes, fells, and fields with their pure flavors and experiences.We interpret the unique Finnish food tradition in a modern and sophisticated way, so that the old familiar flavors and dishes surprise, charm, and delight. Sparking memories in our visitors with a single bite.

Finnjävel is a homage to the true masters of the Finnish cuisine. To the Finns, who in the Finnish countryside and cities, cherish, develop and keep alive the Finnish culinary tradition by cooking, baking, hunting and foraging. We proudly continue their work to the best of our abilities.

Finnjävels have been travelling across Finland searching for the best and most interesting recipes. They have cooked together with grandmothers and grandfathers, talked, hunted, baked and learned what Finnish food is all about. We source our carefully selected domestic ingredients from Finnish producers and directly from Finnish forests and lakes.

Finnjävel has two sides: the more relaxed Sali offers dishes refined from Finnish favorites, from Karelian stew to Karelian pies, while the Michelin-starred Salong serves top chefs’ interpretations of the Finnish soul.

SALONKI – A SOPHISTICATED DINING EXPERIENCE

Behind the unique Finnish design of Finnjävel Salonki are the renown Finnish designers and architecs Kivi and Tuuli Sotamaa, a brother and a sister. Located in the Taidehalli art exhibition building we are surrounded by all things Finnish.

Our head chef and owner Tommi Tuominen characterizes the dominating circumstances in the history of Finnish food with scarcity and minimalism. In the harsh climate food has been so precious that absolutely everything has been used. Creativity, an absolute necessity for survival, has spawned a rich variety of traditional cuisine.

In the hands of Tuominen, Salonki was awarded it’s first Michelin Star in 2021. The same year Salonki was awarded with the acclaimed Service Awards for the best service in the Nordic countries.

SALI – AN UNCOMPLICATED RESTAURANT EXPERIENCE

Sali is the place to enjoy casual, yet elegant Finnish food in a cosy atmosphere. We offer our interpretations of Finnish food classics We are inspired by classic Finnish home cooking and the pure Nordic ingredients.

Finnjävel is located in the landmark Taidehalli art exhibition building (Kunsthalle Helsinki) and thus in the proximity of many Finnish cultural institutions. For this reason it is natural for us to spice things up every now and then with live music and various special events.

SECRETS IN THE CABINET’S HIDING PLACE

The elegant, dark-coloured cabinet of Finnjävel Salonki offers a perfect venue for all of your important occasions: be it a company dinner, a meeting or a family celebration. Our big Finnish wooden table sits up to 12 people. Enjoy the Finnjävel without any rush!

The private dining room can also be booked during lunch time. During lunch we serve the more casual interpretations of Finnish food from our relaxed Sali side.
